Changes in "Me-World"

The only place I loose weight fast.I'm not exactly having an eating disorder but at times I feel it borders on one. Specially when my brain tells me to eat when my stomach's clearly full. I did make a big change when I joined Weight Watchers 2+ years back and lost 43 lbs/ 20+kg's. I was able to maintain it until my dear husband started buying all kinds of Julian Pie's and that's how it all went down hill!! okay, okay...  I got into a baking frenzy this past winter and that didn't help either. So 10 days ago I decided to get back on track and after hopping on the scale, realizing that I gained a good 10 pounds/ 5kg's I decided to do something rather earlier than later and signed back up on Weightwatchers.com. So far I've lost 5 pounds/ 3kg's. 10 days ago was also my first exercise day after a very VERY long time and I held it up ever since, riding my exercise bike 30min/day.
I'm forcing myself to exercise to stay healthy, much more than to loose weight. I wish there were more of a variety I could exercise but due to a hip birth defect options are unfortunately very limited. I'm not complaining though, there's much more to be thankful for than there is to complain about *smile*

I'm a lot of things, but I am not a very disciplined person and I do did not like to exercise!! Since I started exercising though I've felt several changes in my daily life, the best of all by now is being in a better mood, my moods are much more balanced and just an overall better feeling of accomplishment about myself and for that I tap myself on the shoulders, YAY !!

Here my 10 past days in a nutshell and now my daily prayer to Allah is to keep up the good work and for HIM to grant me the discipline it takes to keep on exercising on a daily basis!!

Where do you fit in?

At times I'm asking myself where I'd fit in if I'd categorize myself. Having a father from Algeria and a mother from Switzerland I already didn't really fit in. As I got older I learned about the oppression of the blacks and didn't like the whites, but wait a minute my one and only most precious mom in the world is exactly that.. hmm.. then I started practicing the religion I was given, Islam. Now I was a muslim. Then I married my husband who's job was the US Navy. So now I'm a muslim Navy Wife. I'd actually like to have a bit more contact with Women in the Navy just curious about how they do things when their husbands are gone, but I wonder would they like to have anything to do with me? ... I am not looking like the typical Navy Spouse. Oh did I mention that I'm homeschooling? That would make me a ... lets not even go there haha..

Seriously now do we really have to fit in? I never liked having to be a certain way so I "fit" in. I will always be different and special like everyone else is, in their own way.

People come and go..

I'm born and grown up in Switzerland where I lived for 24 years of my life. Our family members are scattered all over the world (more or less), since we're all travelers, so I was always very tempted to move away and always thought of it as very exciting to have a fresh start in another city, town, country or even continent. I, to start it off, very often had very close friends that "so happened" to live overseas. So when I met my husband and new for certain that I'll move to Singapore I was ecstatic, I mean, I was moving to Asia !!! It was great, we spent 2 years there, I met beautiful friends, it was exciting and all until we moved to the States and that was exciting as well.. It does come with a downside though (what in life doesn't alright..) We meet these beautiful, precious people that become real in our lives, they become friends that we really care for and that's when they're being snatched away from our lives.. (not particularly die, thank God but simply move away) I thought about this for the past few years since it has happened on and off. I believe that it is just meant to be, that certain people appear in our lives, they serve to be with us for a purpose for a certain amount of time, and when that purpose is fulfilled they go their ways, for whatever is meant to happen for them in their own paths.

Enjoying to Blog

This morning, while drinking my coffee I read a few posts on different blogs and reflected on: What is it, that makes me like a particular blog? It totally depends on my mood really. But all in all sharing blog posts, writing or reading the posts, including their comments (which I enjoy just as much).. it appears to me a bit like a virtual get together amongst people/ friends who share their opinions. Or maybe strangers who in person would be so different who find common ground, connections through the same interests and for that reason they become friends, whereas in real life, they might not even look at each other, let alone like each other. Blogs enable us to share our thoughts, comment on them or learn. Allah knows I've laughed and learned so much through the many blogs I've read so far. It also broadens our minds by sharing, accepting and respecting other peoples opinions.

I consider myself a very social, open minded fun person, but besides this I'm also VERY busy. My "job" is being a wife and a mother, and my "hobby" is homeschooling, if you know what I mean *grin* I used to love going out, talk to my friends etc. but the past few months I've just been to busy to even pick up a phone and dial a friends number to chit chat.. Dont' get me wrong I love my life and all that's comes with it, including my family and friends of course. But my priorities have shifted and by the time I would have time to chit chat with a friend, the desire's simply disappeared because it's been a day and I've certainly done enough talking for the last 12 hours !!

I absolutely enjoy blogging for it allows me to do so at my own pace. Please feel free to drop a line and leave your thoughts about blogging.. have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by..

being a navy wife

My friends from time to time ask me: how do you do that, having your husband gone for so long.. Well my first reply that I "feel" usually sounds like: Well.. I didn't really choose to fall in love with a navy guy.. but honestly I prefer missing my most wonderful husband every once in a while for a few months, jumping up and down, crying of joy whenever he comes back, then, having someone around 24/7/365 a year and waiting for him to leave the house to go JUST ANYWHERE!! (doesn't that sound awful?! )

Some women I got to know back in singapore, where we staid some years back, used to say: you'll get used to it, while the deployments get up to 2, 3.. it will get easier.. uhmm no it doesn't get easier at all, my heart is being torn apart every time I have to see him walk yet on another ship, knowing I won't be seeing and holding him for a VERY long time... uhh it sucks !! Or friends who say: You're so strong, I don't know how you do it.. well 1) I'm not really strong and 2) do I have a choice? nope, so I suck it up and just .. go with the flow.. my boys help me tons when it comes to finding a reason to getting up in the morning (especially the first few mornings of waking up alone in bed) cooking a healthy meal, getting out the house and most of all: for being happy and making me laugh !!! (for it seems that there wouldn't really be much to laugh, or be happy about right after the good byes)
My husband is here at the moment but somehow I just have these moments where I mentally prepare myself for his next deployment (if that's even possible) and trying to figure out all I would like to do during that time. This is also one of the reasons why I started blogging, thinking it would be a great way to keeping me busy, and to keeping my husband up to date, wherever he might be.

I would be delighted to find some muslim navy wives, navy wives, homeschooling navy wives etc. wondering how you are passing your time whenever your husbands are away. God bless

Why do I homeschool

Homeschooling, which takes a huge part of our daily lives, became a way of life, actually from the time we get up in the morning until we turn off our lights and night. Thinking about it, home is  a school and after our precious little one keep learning from home it makes all of us more aware of the world around us, and what an excellent way of exploring the world we live in with our own kids !!
